Danny Oks, french horn
Danny started playing the French horn at the age of 15 in
Jerusalem, Israel, where he studied and graduated from the Jerusalem
Rubin Academy of Music High School, while studying the horn with Yaakov
Mishori, formerly principal horn of the Israel Philharmonic. Danny has
performed with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Israel Chamber
Orchestra, Haifa Symphony Orchestra and other professional orchestras in
Israel since the age of 17, mostly due to a large number of orchestras
and a pronounced deficit of good horn players in Israel at that time.
However, the opportunity proved to be a very positive, educational
experience.
At the age of 21 Danny moved to New York and studied the horn at the
Mannes College of Music with Ranier DeIntinis, formerly a member of the
horn section of the New York Philharmonic.
At the age of 24, life took an unexpected turn and Danny decided to take
a 10-year break from the horn, while doing some soul searching and
looking for a better reason of WHY play the horn in the first place.
However, 10 years later he picked up the horn with renewed passion and
refreshed vigor, has been playing enthusiastically ever since.
Danny is currently residing in Croton on Hudson with his wife Liliane and
his daughter May and while being a part owner of a Westchester based
business he is actively performing with various Orchestras and Chamber
Groups in and around Westchester County and New York City, such as
Riverside Orchestra, New Amsterdam Orchestra, Musica Bella, NYRO,
Collegium Westchester, Croton Chorale and more..... |
